Obituary of John Colin Green

John Colin Green, age 96, of Trumbull, beloved husband of the late Eileen Murial Neill Green, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2024. Born on May 21, 1927 in Sutton Coldfield, England, he was the son of the late Harry and Margaret Shipton Green.

Born on the day that Lindbergh landed in Paris, Colin had a lifelong fascination with aircraft. He started his career as an apprentice with Vicker-Armstrong. He then joined Armstrong-Whitworth of Coventry where he met his wife to be, Eileen, on his first day. At Bristol Aerospace, he was proud to spend many years on the Concorde program. The family relocated to the States in 1967 when Colin joined Sikorsky Aircraft as an Engineer in Operations Research. With a gift of being able to explain technical data to non-engineers, Colin evolved from engineer into an industrial strategist. At Sikorsky, he worked on the CH-53E (a 17-ton lift crane helicopter) and the Black Hawk program. He ended his career as Vice President of United Technologies. He holds a Higher National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering from Kingston on Thames Polytechnic Institute and a Master's Degree in Economics from the University of Bridgeport.

Survivors include his loving children, a son, Ian C. Green and a daughter, Ann S. Green, two cherished grandchildren, Spencer Green and his wife Kayla and Chandler Green and his wife Molly, as well as two adored great grandchildren, Grayson and Heather Green.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet directly at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1734 Huntington Turnpike, Trumbull on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. for funeral services. A light reception will follow.
