Chris, Your mother was a fighter. It was this attitude and will to live which kept her going during this difficult illness. She was tough and wouldn't give in to weakness. Stubborn....sometimes...difficult....sometimes...courageous...ALL THE TIME. My first memory of your mother was from Magrath Elementary School. I was a sub and she was a teacher. This was before she was even married. I just knew I'd never do justice to that long name of hers so I used to practice it until I got it right. Eventually. your mom transferred to Naramake School and I, of course, thinking I knew her called her Janet Shostak...wrong... Over the years Dom and I did many things with your parents...playing pinochle was one of my funniest memories. Your mom and I would cheat to win just to get your dad's goat. It worked, too, as he hated losing. We never fessed up that we used to kick each other under my table before we'd lay a certain card. Our fonder memory was your arrival. It brought such joy and happiness to both your parents. Oh, how their life changed. No more card playing till 5 AM and no more late nights, period. It was worth it though as you brought them joy. Your mother will be missed but she is out of pain and at peace.

Chris, Katie, and family/friends, we are so sorry for your loss. I'll never forget the way Mrs. Birarelli lit up when Steve and I came over for Christmas and Steve wore his tacky Christmas suit jacket that she absolutely LOVED - we all had a great laugh and I'll cherish that memory. If you need anything at all please don't hesitate to reach out. Sending you our most sincere condolences and prayers in this trying time.
