Obituary of Barbara Ciotti

Barbara Agnes Bennett Ciotti, age 85, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Robert Ciotti Sr., passed away peacefully on Friday, February 12, 2021 with her loving family by her side. Born on July 24, 1935 in Bridgeport, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Murphy Bennett. Mrs. Ciotti was a retired receptionist with Durant, Nichols, & Houston Law Firm and was also formerly employed by the City of Bridgeport working with the Board of Education and the Nutrition Center. She was also a dedicated parishioner of St. Augustine Cathedral where she was an active volunteer for many years when her five children attended school there. She was affectionately known as Mom, Nanny, “Bobbie”, Aunt Barb and Mrs. C. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family. Her smile could light up the room, especially when her grandchildren and great grandchildren were by her side. The unconditional love she gave and the values she taught will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed.

 

She was predeceased by her son Robert Ciotti Jr., granddaughter Krista Leigh Otzel, son-in-laws, Daniel McCarthy, Nicholas Otzel Sr. and siblings, Charles, William, Joseph, Connie and John Bennett and Katherine Violante. Survivors include her four loving daughters, Barbara Jean McCarthy of Seymour, Beth Ann Masulli and her husband Michael of Stratford, Beverly Tartaglia and her husband Leo of Monroe and Bernadette Ambrosini and her husband Joseph of Trumbull; cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Otzel (Amy), Grant, Justin and Matthew Otzel, Daniel McCarthy, Michael Masulli Jr. and his fiancé Liz Pelloth, Katrina Ciotti Siclari (Kevin), Robert Ciotti III, (and their mother Diane Rice Ciotti ) Selina Convertito (Mike), Leo Tartaglia Jr (Jaime) Dana Tartaglia, Joseph Jr.,Christina, and Gina Ambrosini (Anthony Marsilio), seven adored great grandchildren, Nicholas and Valorie Otzel, Nico, Isabella and Anna Convertito and Leo and Logan Tartaglia; sisters, Irene McNeil of Seymour and Joan Gunther of Delaware, sisters-in-law, Virginia Bassett and her husband Ron and Lorraine Ciotti all of Monroe, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

The family would like to thank Dr. Simkovitz, Dr. Fischbach, Dr. Joshi, and their staff as well as the nurses on floor 9 of St. Vincent’s Hospital. Due to the current circumstances affecting social gatherings at this time, funeral services and burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull will be held privately for the immediate family. However, a Livestream of the Mass will be available at www.thecathedralparish.org on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 10:15 a.m.  A Memorial Mass and celebration to honor the life of this amazing woman will be held at a later date.
