Obituary of Jacqueline K. Shea

Jacqueline K. Shea, age 82 of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Bradley P. Shea, passed away on December 14, 2018 at Griffin Hospital. Born in Bridgeport on March 24, 1936 she was a daughter of the late Harry Marden and Florence Thomas and was adopted by Arthur and Florence King who loved her dearly. Jackie graduated with honors and a Master's degree and began her career as a teacher at Chalk Hill Elementary School in 1958. It was there that she also was a science department chairperson and the coach of the girls' basketball team, the Lionettes for many years until her retirement in 1992. She was loved and admired by many students, staff and colleagues. Jackie met the Charles family in upstate New York in 1953. Their families became one as time moved on. Jackie enjoyed camping and fishing on Piseco Lake, the Adirondacks were a second home to Jackie and her extended family. In later years, she was able to purchase Camp Kodak, one of the first cabins built on Piseco Lake and it was there that she shared some of her happiest years with her husband Brad. She was an avid bowler, currently bowled in the Wednesday Seniors League at Nutmeg Bowl in Fairfield. Also, a member of the PWBA, she won many championships while traveling the country with her league, enjoying trips to Vegas competitions especially. It was bowling that brought her to meet the love of her life, Brad as he too was an avid bowler. Her love was strong and true, second only to her love for her dogs, Bailey and Brady. She often referred to them as "saving" her after Brad had died as they filled the void in her heart after losing him. She is survived by her sister, Evelena Johnson, her cherished nieces & nephew, Diane King, Sherri Hughson & Thomas Johnson, adored great nephews, Justan, Jordan & Stephen as well as many other great nieces and nephews, her special longtime friends, Gaylene Charles Getman and Joyce Goduto-Toth, Carol Lugris, her colleague and friend whom she traveled to many a craft fair with, her family members as well as many other dear friends. A memorial gathering will take place on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 3:00 -5:00 p.m., with a prayer service taking place at 4:30 p.m., in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Echo Hose Ambulance Corps #3, 100 Meadow St., Shelton, CT 06484 or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
