Obituary of Enzo Cerrato

Enzo Cerrato, husband of loving wife Loretta Bedini Cerrato, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018 after a long journey fighting both cancer and renal disease. He was born on March 1, 1933 to Annibale and Anunziata Cerrato in the beautiful village of Bovino in the Puglia region of Italy. During his childhood, he learned the family skill of how to repair watches – a skill that served him well after he came to America in his early 20s. He started at Tiffon Jewelers in Bridgeport and then worked at David Harvey Jewelers in Norwalk. "Uncle Enzo" was the unofficial watch and jewelry repairman for the extended family and friends. Enzo was unwavering in his commitment to his family. His personal pleasure and comfort were always secondary to his primary focus of providing for his family. In addition to his wife Loretta of 55 years, he cared deeply about his children. His children include daughter Adriana (husband Ajit Gopalakrishnan); his three sons, Christopher (wife Cristina Cecili), Lawrence (wife Karen Bendana Cerrato) and Michael (wife Elizabeth Dias Cerrato), and his grandchildren Silvia, Mia, Lilliana, Devan, Sahana, Grace, Lucas, and Benjamin. Enzo was survived by his loving sister Ada Vittori and her husband, Bernard. He was predeceased by his sister Antoinetta Procaccini, her husband Joseph Procaccini and a cherished grandson, Julian. Outside of work and family, the vegetable garden was his passion. His annual yields of tomato, basil, oregano, and pepperoncini were consumed in many kitchens each year. His favorite however was arugula – they were indeed the best arugula in the whole world. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at St. Theresa's, 5301 Main Street in Trumbull. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1056 Daniels Farm Rd. in Trumbull.
