Obituary of Marie G. Alimena

Marie Campanella Alimena, age 87, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late James J. Alimena, passed away on June 3, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Born in West New York, NJ on March 22, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Alfonso and Mary Vecere Campanella. Marie was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed entertaining guests on their boat and in their house in Vermont. Marie took pleasure in traveling the world with friends and family, listening to music, attending the opera, dancing at many functions, and singing in her beloved church choir. Survivors include her children, James B. Alimena and his wife Clarissa of Shelton, Christine Robinson of Merrimack, NH, Lisa Nyden and her husband Matthew of Monroe, and Michelle Varrone and her husband Andrew of Trumbull. Survivors also include seven grandchildren, Juliette and Stephanie Alimena, Jason and Tricia Robinson, Sam Nyden, and Jake and Mia Varrone as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Philip Campanella, a sister, Rose Bennett and a son-in-law, Gary Robinson. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Fairfield for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may call on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance at www.ocrf.org.
