Obituary of Keron F. Horan

Keron F. Horan of Shelton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, with his family by his side. Keron was born on September 3, 1921, son of the late Margaret Daly and Kieran Horan, in Harford, CT. During World War II, he served in the Navy as a pilot. Prior to the war, he was an apprentice at Pratt and Whitney. After being discharged from the Navy, Keron attended Trinity College. He worked for General Electric Co. for 37 years. While there he developed a course in Shop Operations and traveled numerous times around the world. Keron was active in community service as secretary of the Trumbull Little League, President of the Trumbull Babe Ruth league. He was a member of the Exchange Club in Trumbull and was elected as a representative in the Town of Trumbull. He was on the board of the Senior Citizens at St. Theresa's Church. He was the loving father of David A. Horan and Kathleen H. Sokolowski (Zygmund), proud grandfather of Zigmond Sokolowski, Stacey Russell, Jennifer Durette, Devon and Davis Horan and Kristofer Horan. He also leaves eleven great grandchildren. Keron was pre-deceased by his wife, Gertrude McDonough Horan, and his sons, Keron and Dennis Horan, his sisters, Helen Horan, Margaret Murtha and brother, Nicholas Horan. A Memorial Mass celebrating his life will take place on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Interment with military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
