Obituary of Joseph P. Micalizzi

Resident of Bridgeport Joseph Peter Micalizzi Sr., died peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at the age of 93 years. Born in Bridgeport on January 15, 1915, he was a son of the late Carmello and Michaela Minneci Micalizzi. Affectionately known as Joe the Barber, he was the proprietor of Joes Barber Shop in Bridgeport for 76 years. He was an honorary lifetime member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Philip H. Sheridan # 107 Park Avenue and the St. Francis X Cabrini # 4096 Councils, the Elks of Bridgeport BPOE #36 and was a member of the St. Andrews Friendship Club. Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Ann DeStefano Micalizzi, two children, Joseph P. Micalizzi Jr. and his wife Dianne Wells Micalizzi of Fairfield, Joanne Micalizzi Valluzzo and her husband Michael of Trumbull, a brother Tom Micalizzi and his wife Beverly of PA, four grandchildren, Joseph P. Micalizzi III and his wife Emily, Ann Marie Lumpinski and her husband Michael, Cara Micalizzi, M. Christopher Valluzzo and his wife Janice, four great grandchildren, Evan and John Lumpinski and Christopher and Stephan Valluzzo and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by three brothers, Sam, Charles and Anthony Micalizzi and three sisters, Frances Wargo, Lena Suglia and Stella Kulas. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Monday, November 10, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
