Obituary of John J. Francik

Resident of Stratford John J. Francik, age 83, of Stratford, a retired building superintendent at the Bridgeport City Hall, died on Sunday, July 9, 2006 in Hewitt Memorial Hospital, Shelton. Born in Dureyea, PA on December 26, 1922, he was a son of the late John Robert and Sophia Hudak Francik. A U. S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he was proud to have served at Iwo Jima. Mr. Francik was a Stratford resident since 1989, previously residing in Fairfield and Bridgeport. He was a member of the American Legion in Shelton, the V. F. W. in Stratford, the City of Bridgeport Retirees Club and was the past secretary of the Slovak Alliance. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Antoinette Pellegrino Francik and two sisters, Eleanor Marquardt and Theresa Kozlowski. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann Burr and her husband, George of Shelton, a brother, Gerald Francik and his wife, Joan of Stratford, two grandchildren, David Burr of Shelton and Lisa Carloto of Trumbull, two great grandchildren, Nicholas and Matthew, of Trumbull and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
