Obituary of Rudolph J. Mauritz

Rudolph J. Mauritz Jr., age 78, of the Nichols Section of Trumbull, beloved husband of Marie Laquessa Mauritz, died on Friday, May 6, 2005 in Bridgeport Hospital. He was a son of the late Rudolph J. Mauritz Sr. and Mary Kochiss . He was a resident of Nichols over 70 years, and he was a member of the class of 1945 at Warren Harding High School were he was an All-State football player. Following graduation, he served in U.S. Merchant Marine and the Army Air Corps. Mr. Mauritz attended the University of Tulsa and graduated with an Associates Degree in Architectural Engineering from Arnold College. He had a 30 year career as an iron worker, first for the Frouge Corporation, he later established R & M Steel Corporation with his late father Rudolph and late brother Richard. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed spending time with his family, and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren, nieces and nephews compete in a variety of sports.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Marie, a sister Marilyn Valente and her husband Joseph of Fort Myers, FL , a son, Rudolph and his wife Catherine of Nichols, three daughters, Marlene LaBue of Southbury, Michele Mills and her husband Bryan of Nichols, and Julie Novak and her husband Robert of Winsted, a sister in law, Nancy Mauritz of Huntington, several grandchildren, a great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, William and Richard Mauritz.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in Nichols Village Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Monday from 4 -8 p.m.
