Obituary of Edward D. Forte

Retired Firefighter FORTE Edward D. Forte, age 87, of Bridgeport, loving husband of the late Albina Rossi Forte, died peacefully on Saturday, June 23, 2012 in St. Josephs Manor, Trumbull. Born in Bridgeport on July 5, 1924, he was a son of the late Alfonso and Immaculata (Mary) Colonnese Forte. He attended Bassick High School and then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during World War II serving in the 8th Armored Battalion and was also in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Forte was a retired Firefighter for the City of Bridgeport with 35 years of dedicated service and was a member of the Bridgeport Area Retired Firefighters. He was also formerly employed by Chance Voight. A dedicated parishioner of St. Margaret Shrine, Bridgeport, he was a former usher and member of the Holy Name Society and also volunteered for many years at the Feast of St. Anthony Festival at St. Margarets Shrine. Ed enjoyed gardening, baseball and children. He was a fun loving guy, who was a favorite uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was predeceased by two brothers, Michael and Alfonso Forte, a sister, Catherine Pezzullo and a sister-in-law, Barbara Rossi Montalban. Survivors include a sister, Clara Petitte of Bridgeport, sister-in-law, Matilda (Connie) Rossi of Bridgeport and several nieces and nephews in Connecticut, Chicago, Vermont and Myrtle Beach, SC. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Margaret Shrine, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.
