Obituary of Thomas P. Lyons

Thomas P. Lyons, age 74, of Bridgeport, died on Thursday, July 28, 2005 in St. Vincent Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Born on February 7, 1931 in Scranton, PA., he was a son of the late Thomas and Margaret Knittle Lyons and was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired instructor at Sikorsky Aircraft with over 38 years of service. Mr. Lyons was a member of the Sikorsky Retirees Club and took great pleasure in traveling throughout the U.S. to instruct and educate fellow employees on the mechanics of their equipment.

He was pre-deceased by a brother Michael Lyons.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and will be missed by all. Survivors include his devoted wife of 51 years, Theresa Cavaliere Lyons, two loving sons, Thomas A. Lyons and his wife, Michelle of Bridgeport, Timothy M. Lyons and his wife, Gina of South Windsor, a brother, John Lyons and his wife Sharon of Oxford, three sisters Margaret Linley and her husband, Howard of Fairfield, Frances DeVack of Milford, Mary Alice Bardsley and her husband, George of Shelton, three cherished grandchildren, Julianna, Christopher and Heather, one adoring great grandson, Joey and several nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his Sikorsky buddies who he had breakfast with every Monday morning.

The family would like to thank the 7Th floor East nursing staff at St Vincents and all of Toms doctors for their loving care and support during their time of need. 

Funeral services will take place on Monday, August 1, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call on Sunday from 3-7 p.m.
