Obituary of Ferriero Belenchia

Resident of Bridgeport Ferriero (Fred) Belenchia, age 81, of Bridgeport, passed peacefully in his home on Monday, November 8, 2010 following a short illness. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Victor and Rose Donini Belenchia. Fred is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 51 years, Felicia (Licia) Verrusio Belenchia and also leaves behind his daughter Matilda Hopco and her husband Mark of Shelton, a son Victor Belenchia and his wife Dawn of Ansonia, daughter Rosanna Belenchia of West Haven, his loving sister Nancy Belenchia and grandchildren, Melissa and Matthew Hopco and Samantha, Gabrielle and Luca Belenchia. He is pre-deceased by his brother Furio and survived by his brother Enrico and sister Palma Maldonado as well as several nieces and nephews. A graduate of Central High School, class of 1948, Fred was a retired letter carrier for the U. S. Postal Service and a retired employee of Peoples Bank. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army, an avid bowler and was also a member of the Bridgeport/Norwalk Bowling Association Hall of Fame and the Connecticut State Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Fred loved traveling with his wife and friends to the Islands and his passion was going to the Casino. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery of Easton.
