Obituary of Faith Buchino
Faith Buchino age 99 devoted wife to her late husband John "Bucky" Buchino and loving mother to their daughter Michelina was called home on December 16, 2024 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
After growing up in the New York - New Jersey area she came to work at Raybestos where she met and married John. Upon the birth of their daughter, they moved to Stratford where Faith became a stay-at-home mom. Later she returned to Raybestos until she retired and increased her volunteer work. In 2021 she was awarded Stratford's Lighthouse Award for a lifetime of volunteer service. Faith was a library patron who read a book a day, an Adopt-a-Brakette sponsor who loved watching "her girls" play, and a member of the Clan Buchanan Society who enjoyed Scottish highland games all over New England. "Commodore Mom" could also be seen in her Star Trek uniform chatting with actors at Sci-Fi conventions. Self-taught, she has been a pianist for Bethany Christian Church, Tree House nursery, Baldwin Merrymakers, Golden Follies, Baldwin orchestra, church services at Lord Chamberlain, Baldwin players, Golden Tones, and the CARES program. She has been her church's recording, WMPF and Sunshine Circle secretary, helping with nursery, VBS, and singing alto in the choir. She loved working in her own garden, the Wilcoxson school garden, and creating a patriotic red white and blue garden in Paradise Green. At the Baldwin Center she weeded beds and watered and fertilized indoor plants. Grateful for God's many blessings, she devoted her energies to assisting the food pantries at the South End Community Center, Saint James Church and Stratford Baptist Church. She encouraged everyone to find some way to volunteer and enjoy the friendships along the way.
She was predeceased by John her husband of 53 years, her siblings Vianna, Donald, Eleanor, Norman and RuthAnne, and her grandcats Bootsie, Lucy, Danny Boy, and Lindsay. Survivors include her daughter Michelina and several generations of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday, December 19 from 4 to 7 PM at Abriola Parkview funeral home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull Connecticut. Interment will be private and a memorial service will take place after New Year's.
