Obituary of Antonio Martino

Antonio Martino, age 85, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Grace Palumbo Martino, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 with his loving family by his side. Born in Troia, Italy on August 8, 1939, he was a son of the late Pasquale and Pompea Caione Martino. Along with his family, they immigrated to the United States in July of 1958, settling in Bridgeport. Antonio was the former owner and operator of A & M Roofing and Remodeling. He was also formerly employed by Sacred Heart University, Bridgeport Brass and St Catherine of Siena Parish. He was a founder and member of Circolo Sportivo Italian American Club, where he enjoyed playing cards with his friends and talking of times in Italy. He was an outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, gardening and bowling. Proud of his Italian heritage, he loved sharing stories with his children and grandchildren of growing up and loved teaching the Italian traditions that were passed to him by his parents. But above all he was a hard-working man who provided nothing but the best for his family. A loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather, Antonio will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his beloved wife of 57 years, Grace, survivors include his four loving children, Diane Malangone and her husband Sam of Bethany, Linda Bates and her husband John of Bethany, Anthony Martino and his wife Gina of Monroe and Marie Gambino and her husband Bobby of Prospect, five cherished grandchildren, Antonio Malangone and his wife Erin, Annamarie Mazzucco and her husband Daniel, Nicholas Bates and Veronica and Daniela Martino, a brother, Frank Martino and his wife Patricia, as well as several nieces, nephews and brothers and sister-in-law. He was predeceased by two sisters, Maria DeFelice and Angelina Martino. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 200 Shelton Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4–7 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
