Obituary of Dolores C. Scinto

Dolores C. Rende Scinto, age 93 of Stratford passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Bridgeport Hospital with her loving family by her side.  She was the beloved wife of 54 years to the late Anthony J. Scinto.  Born in Bridgeport on October 26, 1931, Dolores was a longtime resident of Stratford.   The daughter of the late Pasquale and Mary Grace Lazaro Rende, Dolores was a beloved sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, godmother, and friend to many.

Dolores worked for several of the leading Bridgeport manufacturers of her time. She was most proud of her unique talent as a hot-metal Linotype operator during the golden era of newspapers, prior to modern phototypesetting. She helped get the word out for publications as varied as the local classifieds to Yale Publishing. She held a wide array of positions, including at some family-owned businesses, but ultimately retired from the insurance world.  In her free time, Dolores was an avid fan of jigsaw puzzles, trips to the casino, and, of course, Italian pastries.  She had a keen sense of humor, which she maintained until her very last moments.  Dolores’ greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends—from taking care of her grandchildren and siblings, to her newly instituted tradition of Friday night dinners with family and friends, and monthly dinners with the ladies of Bridgeport Hospital’s radiology department.  Dolores spent countless hours recounting stories about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to anyone who would listen.  The family expresses its deepest gratitude for those family members and life-long friends who spent time with Dolores over the years.

In addition to her beloved husband Anthony, Dolores was also predeceased by two loving children whom she missed so much, her daughter, Linda Rossetti, and her son, Robert Scinto. Survivors include her brother, Pasquale (“Pat”) Rende, three beloved grandchildren, Joseph Rossetti and his wife Amita, Anthony Scinto and his wife Victoria, and Jeanette Scinto Lowery and her husband Carl, five cherished great-grandchildren, Mia, Gianna (“Gia”), Vivian, Diana and Olivia and a son-in-law, Rocco Rossetti as well as many loving nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Joan, Elena (“Helen”), Mary, Saveria (“Sally”), Angie, Elvira, Theresa, Rosemary and Diane.

Calling hours, where relatives and friends may greet the family, will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated thereafter, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, in Trumbull.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you bring a card sharing your most cherished memories and stories of Dolores to be delivered at the services and later shared with the family.
