Obituary of Angelina Liptak
Angelina Fortuna Liptak, age 84, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who gave tirelessly and put others needs before her own died on Thursday, June 16, 2011 in St. Vincents Medical Center. Affectionately known as Lena to her friends and Stada to her family. She was a loving and selfless Mom and homemaker who then went on to work for 3030 Park in Bridgeport until her retirement. She was an avid gardener, loved to plant flowers and had a green thumb for African Violets. She also loved to cook for her family, play the occasional one arm bandit slot machines and loved watching her soap operas, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She loved the music of Mario Caruso and Mario Lanza and you could hear her sing along as she meticulously cleaned house on Saturdays. She even sang with her sisters-in-laws and Rodney Dangerfields in New York. They were known as The Connecticut Lennon Sisters. She would make annual trips on the train at Christmas to Radio City Music Hall, gaze at the store display windows and eat at Mamma Leones. The simple things in life gave her joy, pizza with schomazza, the occasional lobster and one of each from the Merritt Canteen. She was truly a great humanitarian who cared deeply about others and went out of her way to keep the peace. This world has lost. She will be deeply, deeply missed and truly one of the last great compassionate humans. There was no one that did not love her once they met her. May she dance and sing in the universe until we can all meet again.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Frank William Liptak, two brothers, Ben and Ralph and four sisters, Lucy, Connie, Fannie and Eleanor.
Survivors include four children, Geoff Liptak and his wife Chris of WI, Ann Daya and her fiance Don Acorn of Clinton, ME, Lynn McNicholas of Stratford and Sue Clark and her husband Thomas of Guilford, grandchildren, Jeremy, David, Adam, Stefanie, Meaghan, Sandi, Jeffrey and Geoffrey Jr., three great grandchildren, David, Anthony and Isabella, a sister Mary Martone of Newtown, cousin Mary Abraham of Bridgeport, several nieces and nephews.
