Obituary of Robert F. Lilley

Robert F. Lilley, age 71, passed away in Bridgeport Hospital on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 after a long period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy C. (Latshaw) Lilley, who passed away in 2004. He was born in Malden, MA, a son of John F. and Helen M. (Mahoney) Lilley. He was raised in Stoneham, MA and graduated from Northeastern University in 1962. He received an MBA from Boston College and is a Graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He began his career in Finance and ultimately became the President of American Thread Company in Willimantic, CT. Later in his career he became the owner of William F. Unger Company and is a former President of the Hand Knitting Yarn Association of the United States. He was well known and respected in the thread, yarn and textile industry. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather and dearly loved his family. He enjoyed fishing and golf and will always be remembered by his family and friends for his quick wit and sense of humor, especially his ability to laugh at himself. He is survived by his three children Robert, Jr. and his wife Amy Lilley, of Trumbull; Michael and his wife Carol Lilley of Berwyn, PA; and Kathleen Lilley and her partner Michael Gallagher of Southington, CT; his eight grandchildren, Meg, Jack, Sophie, Emma, Joseph, Franky, Seamus and Marguerite; a brother, Jack Lilley and his wife Eileen of Chelmsford, MA, a sister, Mary Rooney and her husband Robert of Keene, NH and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Monday, August 23, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Shelton Rd., Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Nichols Village Cemetery, Trumbull.
