Born in Pontecorvo, Province of Frosinone, Italy on May 7, 1943, he was a son of the late Michele and Vittoria (Caramadre) Sardelli and was a longtime resident of Bridgeport.

Luigi emigrated to the United States in 1965 and settled in Bridgeport. He began his career as a tool and die maker at Hawie Manufacturing in Bridgeport and retired after 50 years of dedicated service. He continued his Italian Heritage here in America and was passionate about passing those traditions down to his grandsons which included his annual wine making and planting 140 tomato plants which he jarred along with his wife Anna. He also tended to many other vegetables and making homemade sausage and was happy to share the fruits of his labor with family and friends. Luigi also enjoyed his Sunday trips to Sorrento's to shop for more Italian goodies to share with his family. He was a selfless man and always put the needs of his family before his. He had a big heart and was loving and caring man and will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his beloved wife Maria Anna of 59 years, survivors include a loving daughter, Lisa Ciocca and her husband Gianni, two cherished grandsons, Michael and Gianluca Ciocca, three sisters-in-law, Maria Civitia, Giovanna DiCocco and Vincenza Parravano, a cousin, Albert Parravano and several nieces and nephews and relatives in Italy.
