Obituary of Raymond C. Bullard Jr.

Raymond C. Bullard, Jr., age 78, of Hamden, died suddenly on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 31 years to Lynn (Altschuler) Bullard.Born in Bridgeport on December 27, 1945, he was a son of the late Raymond C. Bullard, Sr. and Lillian (Anderson) Bullard and was a longtime resident of Fairfield before moving to Hamden.

Ray was a firefighter with the Fairfield Fire Department with over 50 years of dedicated service and attained the rank of lieutenant and assistant fire marshal at his retirement. He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Hamden, where he served as a trustee and chairman for many years as well as a member of the FDNY Fire Bell Club. Ray was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying airplanes. He could also be found playing a round of golf with his buddies, searching for that next treasure with his metal detector or adding to his various collectibles. His greatest enjoyment came from grilling and spending time with family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his beloved wife Lynn, survivors include his two loving children, Darren Bullard and his companion Maritza Quinones of Bridgeport and Jennifer Wright and her husband Hewett of Rochester, NY, a step daughter, Jennifer Kennedy and her husband Matthew and five cherished grandchildren, Patrick Bullard, Brandon Bullard, Mason Wright, Sawyer Wright and Kyle Gelzinis as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Victor Thyberg and a sister, Signe Bachman.
