Obituary of Sandra D. Gellatly

Sandra Dragone Gellatly, 95 (sometimes 29), of Stratford, CT, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2024, where she resided with her daughter Deborah and her son-in-law John. Born on November 29, 1928, in Rochester, NY, Sandra was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, William "Bill" Gellatly and daughter Sharon Aurelia. Also, parents Antonette and Antonio Dragone, and siblings Anthony Dragone and Madeline Gellatly.

Sandra is survived by her three children: Deborah Becker (John), Guy Gellatly (Mary Jane), Jennifer Sirella (Jack), son-in-law Sal Aurelia, and her brother Fred Dragone (Linda). She took great pride in her 10 grandchildren: Jason Gellatly, Stacey Gellatly (Jim), John Becker (Kendra), Nicholas Becker, Michael Becker (Cheryl), Jessica Waite (Matt), Julia Carlozzi (John), Jamie Bonetti (Rob), Sandy Aurelia, and Sal Aurelia (Nancy), as well as her 12 great-grandchildren: Megan, John, Ellie, Connor, Talan, Bella, Jackson, Tanner, Shea, Lucas, Sharla, and Sal, all of whom she adored.

Sandra enjoyed working and was proud of her work at General Electric, Stratford High School, Avco Lycoming, and retired from Phillips Medical Systems in 1991, where she worked as an assembly technician in manufacturing. She was a working mom before it became traditional to do so.

In retirement, Sandra enjoyed traveling through the US and Europe with Bill and friends, with Disney being a favorite. She loved taking rides, especially to the beach, or a simple ride through nature. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and Pop were always available for babysitting and sleepovers.

Sandra had a knack for turning a nickel into a dime and enjoyed tag sales, decorating her home, antiquing, and in the last few years, coloring. And the more coffee, the better. She was known for her kindness, sweetness, generosity, and never speaking ill of others.

Sandra's infectious smile brought joy to all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her love and love for life.

All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. directly in St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Ln., Stratford. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Stratford. Arrangements in care of Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
