Obituary of Betty Jean Esposito

Betty Jean Esposito (also known as BJ) passed away after a prolonged illness, on November 14, 2023, at the age of 93 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where she lived since 2013.

BJ was born in Richmond Hill, Queens, NY on May 17th, 1930, to loving parents Henry and Catherine (Hunderfund) Behlmer. She attended New York City Schools and graduated from high school in 1948. Soon after marrying Raymond Esposito in 1953, BJ settled in Norwalk, Connecticut, the town she called home for many decades. Other residences of much shorter duration included Stamford, Connecticut and Shallotte, North Carolina. BJ had a long association with, and was an active member of, the Zion Lutheran Church in Stamford, CT. She worked there as Church Secretary for many years.

BJ dedicated most of her life to raising and caring for her family. She was a loving mother, a doting aunt, and a caring grandmother. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her three sons: Raymond of South Lake, TX; Douglas of Atlanta, GA; and Jeffrey of Hillsboro, OH; three daughters-in-law: Lori Esposito, Holly Neckerman, and Gina Cimminello; five grandchildren: Jamie (Ethan) Payne, Julie Esposito, Juan Esposito, Shay Esposito, and Brayden Esposito; and two great-grandchildren: Raelynn and EJ Payne.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Doris Courtney, and her former husband Raymond Esposito.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in BJ's name to the charity of your choice.

A special thank you to all staff at Mozaic Senior Life, formerly Jewish Senior Services in Bridgeport, CT who took wonderful care of BJ for over a decade, and to her hospice caregivers who were so vitally important during the final days.
