Edmund N. McCarthy, age 80, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Cathleen Falvey McCarthy, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2023 with his loving family by his side. Born on January 21, 1943 in Limerick, Ireland, he was a son of the late Edmond and Margaret Ryan McCarthy. Edmund attended Belcamp College in Ireland. Along with his wife, they were devoted parishioners of The Cathedral of St. Augustine where he volunteered countless hours for the festivals, church activities and school functions. But above all, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Edmund will always be remembered as a friendly, good-natured gentleman and he will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. In addition to his beloved wife of 57 years, Cathleen, survivors include his four loving children, Sean McCarthy, Michael McCarthy, Mary Teresa Pruzinsky and her husband Rob and Thomas McCarthy, six cherished grandchildren, Katey, Colin, Shannon, Ryan, Mackenzie and Matthew and his former daughter-in-law Paige McCarthy. He also leaves to cherish his memory a sister, Mary McCormack, a brother, Michael McCarthy and his wife Margaret, brother-in law Seamus Walsh, sister-in-law Joan McCarthy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Jackie and Tommie McCarthy, sisters, Teresa Hanly and her husband Frank and Angela Walsh, and brothers-in-law, Sonny McCormack and Johnie Falvey, and his former daughter-in-law the late Heather McCarthy.
