Obituary of Nicola Costantini

Nicola (Nick) Costantini, age 67, of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Yale New Haven Smilow Cancer Hospital after valiantly fighting the disease for 17 years. His final days found him pain-free and surrounded by family and friends who showered him with laughter and love. Nick was a devoted husband of 26 years to Jennifer Patrignelli Costantini, and was born in Torrice, Italy to the late Enrico and Anna Fabrizi Costantini.

Nick needed nothing more to make him happy than his family, his dogs, hard work, the Buffalo Bills, and soccer (Italian of course, but Juventus especially). After immigrating to the United States, Nick worked for the Labor Union until he began his 25 year-long career as a mason, for the Town of Trumbull. Nick loved Trumbull, and his beautiful work can be seen all over town, in our sidewalks, bridges, buildings, and monuments.

In addition to his loving wife, Nick will be missed most by his daughter Briana Costantini of Trumbull, step-daughter Sarah Haydu Fiddes (Hugh) of Austin, TX, step-son Michael Haydu, of Woburn, MA, and grandchildren Annabelle and Harrison. As he joins his late brother Domenico Costantini (Maria), and brother-in-law Nicola Arduini (Leda) both of Trumbull, he leaves behind his brothers Luigi Costantini (Adina) of Trumbull, Lino Costantini (Karen) of Trumbull, sister Leda Arduini (Nicola) of Trumbull, brother-in-law Dr. Robert Patrignelli of Fairfield, sister-in-law Julie Patrignelli McKelvey (Bob) of Avon by the Sea, NJ, mother and father in-law Robert and Gail Patrignelli of Trumbull, and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Our family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Wang Lam, Dr. Ronald Salem, and Dr. Harold Tara for their skill, compassion, and fighting right alongside Nick over these past 17 years. In addition, we would like to thank the exceptional Yale New Haven Emergency Department and Smilow nursing staff who became second family time, and time again. He was blessed to have you all.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 15, 2023, 11:00 a.m. directly at St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull, entombment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, St. Catherine Mausoleum, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
