Obituary of Michael J. Malvasi Sr.

Michael J. Malvasi, Sr., age 94, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to the late Shirley Divens Malvasi. Mike was born in Bridgeport on September 22, 1928, and was a son of the late Anthony and Antoinette (Caruso) Malvasi and was a longtime resident of Monroe before moving to Shelton.

Mike joined the United States Army after high school and proudly served his country while stationed in Germany. He later trained to become a journeyman electrician but spent most of his career as a salesman in the wine and spirits business and retired after over 30 years with Hartley and Parker Limited LTD. While raising his family in Monroe he was involved with the Monroe Father's Club and the Monroe Little League, and served as president with both organizations. A sports enthusiast he was also a member of the Greater Bridgeport Athletic Association (Old Timers) and a die-hard New York Yankees fan who never missed a game. He enjoyed traveling with Shirley on many jazz cruises with friends.Their children always enjoyed watching them dance and listening to their favorite jazz music. In his many years of retirement, he enjoyed being with family, attending all of his grandchildren's activities and most recently spending time with his great grandson Henry.

Survivors include his two loving children, Michael Malvasi, Jr. (Julie) of Shelton and Michele Cullen (Bob) of McPherson, KS, six beloved grandchildren, Lindsey and Kevin Cullen, Sarah Arcieri (Joe), Allie Warren (Kenan), Benjamin Brassington and Graham Malvasi, a cherished great grandson, Henry Warren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four siblings, Rose Vacca, Joseph Malvasi, Frank Malvasi and Julia Tagliatela.

A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
