Obituary of Anthony R. D'Ostilio

Anthony Rolando D'Ostilio, of Trumbull, CT, passed away on May 23, 2023, at 101 years old. Born on May 11, 1922, to Peter and Giovina D'Ostilio in Redding, CT, Anthony was a master bricklayer and stonecutter, who worked for many construction companies in the local area. Much of his skill and craftmanship can be seen throughout the southern Connecticut area. An avid reader, Anthony had a passion for nature and Native American culture, which he eagerly shared with youngsters, including students at St. Theresa's School and Boy Scout Troop 68 in Trumbull. A WWII veteran, he served in the European Theater with the 326th Infantry Regiment. His hobbies included drawing, painting and sculpture. Known as Uncle Tony (UT) by his nieces and nephews, he truly enjoyed life and touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by his wife, Angelina and his siblings: Carmen D'Ostilio, his twin brother Dominic D'Ostilio, Mary Bonitati, and Rose Caporale. Anthony is survived by his children and their spouses: Michael and Marietta D'Ostilio, Elizabeth and John McGuire, and Angela and Daniel Miccinello. He was blessed with six grandchildren: Heather Clemens (David), Michael D'Ostilio, Jr. (Jennifer), John McGuire (Elizabeth), Justina McGuire, Dannielle Kealy (Edward), and Benjamin Miccinello (Samantha). He lived to see seven great-grandchildren: Christopher and Mary Clemens; Andrew, Amelia, and Allyson D'Ostilio; Annie Kealy; and Theodore McGuire. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Elizabeth DePeano and forever friend, Eleanor Adams. Anthony was ready to leave us, but none of us were ready to let him go. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Interment with military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Anthony's name to Trumbull Social Services, 23 Priscilla Pl., Trumbull, CT 06611, Attn: Jennifer Gillis or to St. Vincent's Medical Center, 2800 Main St., Bridgeport, CT 06606, Attn: Philanthropy Dept.; memo line: D'Ostilio ICU Library.
