Obituary of James R. Norton

James R. Norton, age 86, of Huntington passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Margaret (Blee) Norton. Born in Nashville, TN on May 8, 1936, he was a son of the late Charles E. and Elizabeth J. (Lewis) Norton. He graduated from Terryville High School and American International College where he was a member of the TKE fraternity. Jim was a proud U.S. Army veteran. He was retired from the Bridgeport Public School system. A gifted creative writer, Jim loved reading and writing by a winter fireside. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his beloved wife Margaret, survivors include his cherished daughters Kimberly Chipman (Peter) of Norfolk, MA, Lisa Monteleone of Monroe, and Jodi Norton-Russell of Bridgeport, his grandchildren Ryan (Sarah), Michaela, Maggie, Christopher (Katelyn) and Caitlyn, and his great grandsons Luke and Liam. He was predeceased by his brother Lewis.

James was laid to rest in the family plot in Lake Avenue Cemetery, Bristol. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 11am at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave. Shelton.
