Obituary of Domenic M. Schefiliti

Domenic M. Schefiliti, age 74, of Shelton, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at his home. He was the loving husband of 48 years to Karen (Murphy) Schefiliti. Born in Waterbury on March 8, 1949, he was a son of the late Dominic and Ann (Niclario) Schefiliti and was a longtime resident of Shelton.

Domenic attended high school at Sacred Heart in Waterbury and completed his bachelor's degree at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He was a licensed civil engineer and a land surveyor. He worked in several firms at the start of his career before taking the bold step to establish his own firm – Savarese and Schefiliti - which grew into a thriving business. He worked tirelessly growing and supporting his team while providing exceptional service to his clients.

Dom was passionate about his kids and his grandkids. He never missed an opportunity to coach or watch their sports. He coached his daughters in baseball and basketball throughout their childhood, creating a new AAU club so they would have a great experience. He also traveled any distance to see them play college basketball as often as he could. More recently, he was a regular at every local soccer game for his grandsons, a few lacrosse and football games, and gymnastics for his granddaughter. And it wasn't just on the field, he deeply enjoyed attending school plays, concerts, and being the occasional science fair judge. He always took time to be with his girls and to instill in them the values of discipline, integrity, and hard work.

Domenic would move mountains to support those he loved. He was generous and giving, though he might express a few choice words while doing it (for example when cooking on the grill at a family party). He was also a devoted NY Yankees and UConn Women's Basketball fan. He never missed a game and was always great entertainment for anyone who dared to text him during the game, or better yet to join him to watch in person. His sarcasm and witty responses will be missed.

In addition to his beloved wife Karen, survivors include his four loving daughters, Jamie Cosgrove and her husband Chris, Jennifer Fortune and her husband Bill, Jessica DiFabio and her husband Mark and Jillian Lecy and her husband Leif, a sister, Anne Moore and her husband Donald and eight cherished grandchildren, Declan, Liam, Aiden, Luke, Billy, Brady, Maddie and Bryce, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends can greet the family on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a short service being held at 6:30 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT.
