Dear Phil and Donna,
I am deeply saddened by the loss of your Dad and heart broken to lose the best brother ever. Our lives together began as toddlers..we were inseparable! Together we met your Mom at the age of 15 on a blind date in Lordship. The last time we were together, we made gnocchi, meatballs, and drank wine. Such a treat! Your Dad had an endless love for his family and hopefully that love will provide you strength during these difficult days. While we did not say goodbye, brothers never can be parted. No matter where I am, his spirit will be with me. Precious memories never die. Love you, Uncle Bill

Phil, Donna and family, so sad to hear of Mr D's death. We all had such a fun childhood growing up on Erwin Street. So many good memories. A few days after the pandemic shut down your Dad called my Mom. He didn't know she had recently had a stroke, and wasn't able to keep up her end of the conversation . As we know, those two both had the gift of gab! So I took over and had such a good conversation with Mr. D reminiscing. He was touching bases with old friends. Your Mom and Dad were so loving to us Perillie kids, like a second set of neighborhood parents. Love them. RIP Mr D , hope you and Mrs D are dancing to the Jersey Boys in the company of Lenny and all your loved ones!!

RIP Mr. DiGennaro. Thank you for understanding how to inspire junior high & high school kids, and for being a role-model at a time when we all needed one. He gave his students the benefit of the doubt, treating us with respect; capable of learning complex science like Chemistry of Nutrition. I was lucky to have many wonderful Westport teachers. Mr. DiGennaro knew how to challenge his students beyond their own expectations, without sucking all the fun out of it. I was flabbergasted when I ran into him 3 decades later and he knew me by name. He was one of Westport’s very best teachers.
My condolences to his family.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. DiGennaro. Mr. DiGennaro was my biology teacher for two separate courses at Staples between 1988-1992. He was an excellent teacher with high expectations, a strong interest in the material, and was always energetic and joyful in the classroom. I remember the histology lab we did with him to this day, a long with his strong interest in health care.
May his memory remain a blessing to his family!
