Obituary of Josephine Lopresti

Josephine (Cino) Lopresti, age 96, of Newtown and formerly of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Friday, March 24, 2023 at the Commons of Newtown. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph V. Lopresti, Jr. Born in Carbondale, PA on January 5, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Angelo and Mary (Scalzo) Cino. Prior to dedicating her life to caring for and raising her family, Josephine had worked as a hairdresser and also enjoyed being employed by Woolworth's Department Store, where she built many friendships. She was always happiest while cooking and was famous for her Italian holiday dinners surrounded by her family and friends. Josephine was meticulous in tending to her garden and enjoyed sharing the fruits of her labor with friends and neighbors. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her loving children, Anne Marie Lopresti, Joseph Lopresti, III of Washington, CT and Angelo Lopresti and his wife Ellen of Providence, RI, her cherished grandchildren, Joey, Krissy, Nicolas, Jaclyn, Melissa, Arky, Andrew, Luella and Sofia, her adored great grandchildren, Enzo, Kaleb, Kayleah, Liliana, Logan, Melody, Gianni and Luca, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband, Joseph, she was also predeceased by her sisters, Theresa Kusha and Mary Giovanni and her brothers, Charlie and Bernie Cino.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena, 220 Shelton Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org or to American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116, www.diabetes.org.
