Obituary of Leo J. Pray

Leo J. Pray, age 84, of Shelton, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Guerrera) Pray. Born in Bridgeport on November 16, 1938, he was the son of the late Leo S. and Edna (Lasko) Pray. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Leo was employed by G.E. Capital for many years before his subsequent retirement. In his spare time, Leo was an avid reader, history buff, fan of classic movies, and card player. He also enjoyed golfing, traveling with his wife, and rooting for the New England Patriots, New York Yankees, and UConn basketball programs. He found great pleasure tending to his garden and sharing the fruits of his labor. Leo loved nothing more than hosting holidays and being surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored. Pete, as he was known to those close to him, was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend of many; he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his beloved wife Patricia of nearly 60 years, other survivors include his loving daughters, Jocelyn Murray and her husband Bruce of Stratford and Judy Pray and her husband Sean McLaughlin of New York City, his cherished grandchildren, Brian and Kara Murray, his sisters, Patricia Proudfoot of Trumbull and Jackalyn DeMarco and her husband Frank of Shelton, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Arlene Marshall.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Leo’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116.
