Obituary of Eric Miguel Lopes

Eric Miguel Lopes, age 21, of Shelton, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 6th, 2023. He was born in Bridgeport on February 25th, 2001, the beloved son of Nelson and Ana Miguel Lopes. A graduate of the Shelton High School Class of 2019, he was a member of the soccer team and an honor roll student. Eric was currently a senior at Southern Connecticut State University majoring in Finance and was employed by Dicks Sporting Goods.

Eric was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents João Murras Miguel and Maria Da Conceição Ribeiro Lopes. In addition to his beloved parents, Nelson and Ana, Eric is survived by his cherished sister, Jessica Lopes; paternal grandparents, Antonio and Adilia Lopes; aunts and uncles, Elizabeth Hotchkiss and her husband Garry, Celia Miguel, Maria Daeira and her husband Domingos, Otilia Miguel, Antonio Miguel and his wife Fatima, Avelino Miguel and his wife Ana, Jose Miguel and his wife Susy, and Manuel Miguel and his wife Fran; his goddaughter Athena Maria Ortiz, and numerous cousins, great aunts and uncles, and many friends.

In his free time Eric enjoyed playing golf and he was a passionate fan of the New York Rangers and enjoyed his many trips to see a game; he also was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, New York Knicks, Benfica, and the New York Yankees. He was a loving son and brother who loved to spend time with his family. Eric was known for his kind heart and would always be there to help a friend in need. His huge smile lit up every room. Eric upheld a true example for others to live by through his humility and genuine care for others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Road, Bridgeport, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 4-7 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
