Obituary of Shirley D. Malvasi

Shirley Divens Malvasi, age 89, beloved wife of Michael Malvasi, Sr. of Shelton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at their home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Level Green, PA, on July 9, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Signa (Mannerberg) Divens and was a longtime resident of Monroe.

Shirley moved to Connecticut with her sister Marie after high school, attended business school and then started her secretarial career which included legal offices, Sikorsky aircraft for several years, the Monroe School System and retired as an administrative assistant at the corporate offices of General Electric. Above all her most important job was being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She and Mike enjoyed traveling on many jazz cruises with friends where they were quite the couple on the dance floor. Their children always enjoyed watching them dance and listening to their favorite jazz music.

In addition to her beloved husband Michael of 65 years survivors include her two loving children, Michele Cullen and her husband Bob of McPherson, KS, Michael Malvasi, Jr. and his wife Julie of Shelton, a brother, James Divens, six beloved grandchildren, Lindsey & Kevin Cullen, Sarah Malvasi (Joe Arcieri), Allie Warren (Kenan) Benjamin Brassington and Graham Malvasi and a cherished great grandson, Henry Warren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by seven siblings, Marguerite Molt, Arthur Divens, Robert Divens, JoAnn Ramsey, John Mannerberg, Marie Adams and Catherine Divens.

A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 -7:00 p.m.
