Obituary of Sister Agnes B. Plavcan, SSND

                                                                        

                                                  March 7, 1934 – September 30, 2022

Sister Agnes (Callista) Plavcan, SSND, age 88, a School Sister of Notre Dame, died on September 30, 2022, at Northbridge Health Care Center, Bridgeport. She was born in Bridgeport on March 7, 1934, a daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Varga) Plavcan.

After pronouncing her vows in 1955, Sister taught at St. Peter and Paul School, Rochester, NY, and St. Luke School, Westport, CT. Beginning in 1971, Sister served as Director of Religious Education at several Connecticut parishes, including St. Luke, Westport; St. Mary, Ridgefield; St. Mary Norwalk, St. Gregory, Danbury, Notre Dame, Easton; and St. Bernadette, New Haven. Before her retirement she ministered at St. Jerome Parish in Norwalk.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister and four brothers.

All are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, October 13, 2022 beginning at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, 395 Anton St., Bridgeport.

Burial will be at St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford, CT.
