Obituary of Helene M. Tallman

Helene McCarthy Tallman, age 96 of Sandy Hook, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Bethel Health Care. She was the beloved wife for 65 years of the late Donald Tallman. Born in Bridgeport CT on October 7, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Helen (McGuire) McCarthy and was a longtime resident of Trumbull. After graduating from Stratford High School, Helene studied to be a physical therapist and worked at a hospital in Binghamton New York. She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Trumbull and a member of the Pinewood Lake Association in Trumbull. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family, and friends especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Helene and Don moved to Washington, New Hampshire upon retirement and were active in their community. After many years they moved to Venice, Florida where they loved walking the beach and enjoying friends and relatives. They eventually returned to Connecticut to live with their daughter.

Helene was a homemaker who enjoyed crafting and reading as well as a talented seamstress creating everything from dresses, halloween costumes, decorations and camping and boating equipment.

Survivors include her three loving children, Richard Tallman of Florida, Linda Scianna and her husband Sal of Sandy Hook, CT and Lisa Buckmaster and her husband Scott of Minnesota, five grandchildren, Kristen, Salvatore & Michael Scianna and Richard Trevor & Jennifer Buckmaster from Minnesota and three cherished great grandchildren, Karli, Lucian and Calista Scianna as well as many nieces and nephews and her beloved sister-in-law, Lois Wallace of Michigan She was predeceased by a sister, Frances Klietz and a brother, Edward "Ted" McCarthy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Shelton Rd., Trumbull. Interment will be private. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
