Obituary of Gino Cortina

Gino Cortina, age 90, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Silvana (Molliconi) Cortina, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 22, 2022 at St. Joseph Center surrounded by his loving family.  Born on September 6, 1931 in Ripi, Province of Frosinone, Italy, he was a son of the late Augusto and Rosa (Zangrilli) Cortina. Mr. Cortina came to the United States with his twin brother Lino in 1948 and later found work as a machinist for both Apex Tool and Remington Arms before working as a mason for T. Arduini Construction, where he eventually retired after many years of dedicated service. He enjoyed making wine and traveling with his wife, however, he was fanatical and meticulous when tending to his garden, which was like a work of art. His faith was extremely important to him and evident as a dedicated parishioner of Christ the King Church, Trumbull. Gino was detail oriented and gifted with his hands. He could fix anything. His love for classic cars, attending car shows with his son, who also shares the same passion, and his cherished 1969 Firebird will provide lasting memories for everyone. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, bother, uncle and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his beloved wife Silvana of 66 years, other survivors include his loving children, Robert Cortina and his wife Jenny of Trumbull and Cindy Deeb and her husband Keith of Weeki Wachee, FL, his cherished grandchildren, Christopher and Jaclyn Cortina, and Matthew, Jessica and Valerie Deeb, his adored great grandchildren, David and Katherine Miner, his twin brother, Lino Cortina and his wife Lina of Trumbull,  sister in law, Sebastiana Cortina of  Trumbull, as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Filomena Cortina, his brother, Albert M. Cortina and a sister, Vincenza Pullo and her husband Biagio.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Ave., Trumbull. Entombment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd. Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kennedy Center, 2440 Reservoir Ave., Trumbull, CT 06611.
