Obituary of Helen M. Dzwonkowski

Helen M. (Ostrowski) Dzwonkowski, age 70 of Stratford passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Lester Dzwonkowski. Born in Prudnik, Poland on August 13, 1951 she was the daughter of the late Walter and Olga (Mieczakowski) Ostrowski. Helen worked as a hairstylist at Hair 2000 of Bridgeport before her retirement with many years of dedicated service. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, taking walks on the beach, and looked forward to taking trips to the casino. A trip wasn’t complete without enjoying dinner out. Helen’s faith was extremely important to her and evident as a longtime dedicated parishioner of St. Michael’s Church in Bridgeport. Helen’s greatest enjoyment however was found in the time she spent surrounded by her friends and family, especially her grandchildren whom she adored and was instrumental in their care. Helen loved to bake and cook, especially her favorite Polish dishes such as stuffed cabbage and pierogi. One of her favorite traditions was making pierogi with the entire family for Christmas. Family gatherings and traditions were important to Helen, including weekly family dinners on Thursday evenings which will be fondly remembered and cherished by the entire family. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her loving children, Kasia Curwen and her husband Robert Curwen Jr. of Shelton, and Christopher Dzwonkowski of New Haven, her cherished grandchildren, Kaitlyn Curwen and Robert Curwen III, her sister, Stella Osos of Bridgeport and adored nieces, Maria Zaste of Bridgeport, Theresa Osos of Shelton, and Krystyna Caltabiano also of Shelton, as well as their children, and many close friends. In addition to her husband Lester, she was also predeceased by her brother, John Ostrowski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 18, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Michael’s Archangel Church, 310 Pulaski St., Bridgeport.
