Obituary of Debra T. Meszaros
Debra T. Otzel Meszaros, “Deb or Debbie” age 65, of Oxford, beloved wife of David J. Meszaros, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 18, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bridgeport on August 4, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Theresa Brunner Otzel. She graduated high school from Notre Dame in Fairfield where she met the love of her life, Dave, and became a member of the Meszaros family. Following the birth of her children, Christina & David, Debbie went back to work and was a Senior Credit Analyst for the Thule Group where she worked for thirty years. Although her life was cut too short and she never reached her retirement, Debbie never missed an opportunity to get dressed up, party, travel, have a cocktail, relax by the beach, and most importantly, spend time with family and friends. Her laughter, smile, and thoughtfulness for others will be sorely missed by all that were fortunate enough to know and love her.
In addition to her beloved husband and high school sweetheart of over 40 years, Dave, survivors include her loving children, Christina Matousek and her husband Matthew of Trumbull and David M. Meszaros and his wife Caitlin of Stratford, a brother, Michael Otzel of Bridgeport, father-in-law, Stephen Meszaros of Trumbull, brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Meszaros and his wife Stacy of Dorset, Vermont, Kathi Pelletier and her husband Rick of Monroe, Karen Parisi of Trumbull, Carol Hespelt and her husband Dave of Fairfield, and Cindy Paltauf and her husband Rich of Newtown, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by countless cousins and lifelong friends who she cherished and loved. She was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Joan Meszaros and her sister-in-law, Laura Otzel. The family would like to thank Smilow Cancer Hospital, Griffin Hospital Emergency Department, as well as Oxford & Valley EMS, and their neighbor Dan Lewis for their valiant efforts and compassionate care during her time of need.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd., Oxford, CT. A walk-through visitation will take place on Wednesday from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Monroe.
