Obituary of Edith McGuigan

Edith Pratt McGuigan, age 71, beloved wife of Joseph McGuigan of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at her home. Born in Glasgow, Scotland on August 24, 1950, she was a daughter of the late John and Edith Pratt (Crofts) and was a longtime resident in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport. She moved to Trumbull during her retirement years.

Edith immigrated to Bridgeport at the age of 14 and graduated from Central HS at the age of 16. Edie went on to put herself through nursing school graduating with honors.

Edie accepted a position with the Emergency Department at Bridgeport Hospital. She furthered her education and earned a Bachelors of Nursing degree from Sacred Heart University. Edith then made the difficult decision to leave the ER, and accepted a position as a public health nurse with the City of Bridgeport in order to spend more time with her family.

Edie's favorite hobbies were reading, gardening, and knitting. In her later years she enjoyed staying connected with family and friends through social media and spending time with her 3 grandchildren.

In addition to her beloved husband Joseph of 51 years, survivors include her two loving children, Rebecca Ann Ambrose and her husband Richard and Joseph Pratt McGuigan, two sisters, Elinor McKeown and Agnes Iselin and three grandchildren, Sean Matthew Ambrose, Lilian Moore Ambrose and Olivia Rose McGuigan as well as many nieces and nephews.
