Obituary of Peter J. Veccharelli Sr.

Peter J. Veccharelli, Sr., age 97, of Monroe, CT and formerly of Bridgeport, CT passed away peacefully on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Middlebrook Farms Assisted Living, Trumbull, CT. Peter was the beloved husband of the late Pauline (Massaria) Veccharelli.

Born in Bridgeport, CT on March 1, 1924; Peter was the son of the late Vincent and Maddalena (Mastrianni) Veccharelli. A proud United States Army Veteran Peter had served honorably During World War II, Pacific Theater. Mr. Veccharelli worked as a Bridgeport City Firefighter with 30 years of dedicated service before his retirement. A loving and devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and friend of many; he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Peter, a devout Catholic, served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. He also enjoyed volunteering and giving back to the community and avidly gave his time to St. Vincent's Medical Center Pastoral Care & Connecticut Hospice. He enjoyed many leisure activities in his life and some of his favorites included: Bowling, Ballroom dancing, Traveling, Playing Bocce, Pinochle and Bridge. Peter traveled the world in his younger years and a snowbird for many years; he and his late wife Pauline, also enjoyed many years wintering in Florida; most of all Peter enjoyed spending time with family.

Mr. Peter Veccharelli, Sr. is predeceased by his brother, Dominick Veccharelli of Milford, CT. He is survived by his loving children: Madeline Eicas and her husband Paul of Trumbull, CT; Ann Veccharelli of Lancaster, CA; Peter Veccharelli, Jr. and his wife Candie of Sandy Hook, CT; and Joan Domack of Monroe, CT. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Jennifer Chaffe and her husband Michael of Shelton, CT; Daniel Veccharelli and his wife Kate of Southbury, CT; Kimberly Frithsen and her husband Chris of North Reading, MA and Dr. Kate Veccharelli and her husband Patrick Johnson of San Diego, CA. Peter is also survived by 5 great grandchildren: Connor, Matthew, Tyler, Michael and Tommy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Theresa's Church, 5301 Main St, Trumbull, CT 06611. Burial will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1056 Daniels Farm Rd., Trumbull, CT 06611.
