Obituary of Christopher J. Capozziello Jr.
Christopher J. Capozziello, Jr., age 82, of Sandy Hook passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Danbury Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Schiavone) Capozziello. Born in Bridgeport on November 8, 1939, he was the son of the late Christopher J. and Dorothy (Gaydos) Capozziello, Sr. Mr. Capozziello had worked in highway construction as a member of the Operating Engineers Local 478 for many years before his retirement. His accomplishments include being instrumental in the construction of Route 25. Chris was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and also took great pride in tending to his garden. He also enjoyed collecting Lionel Trains and built many friendships over the years with others that shared the same interests. He also enjoyed and looked forward to boating with his son and doing anything else where he was surrounded by his family. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his beloved wife Barbara of 59 years, other survivors include his loving sons, Christopher J. Capozziello III of Sandy Hook, Thomas Capozziello and his wife Andrea of Brookfield, Stephen Capozziello and his wife Amy of Sandy Hook and Anthony Capozziello and his wife Tina, also of Sandy Hook, his cherished grandchildren, Vincent, Kristina, Alicia, Kaila, Ryan, Brianna, Sarah and Brandin, his adored great grandchildren, Dominic and Jayden, his beloved sister, Barbara Gnandt of Trumbull as well as his nephew and niece, Richard Gnandt and his wife Afsi of CA and Jennifer Fernandes and her husband Chaz of Oxford.
Friends may greet the family on Sunday, December 26, 2021 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Visitors are encouraged to wear masks. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. directly in St. Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Rd., Newtown. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 783, Sandy Hook, CT 06482.
