Obituary of Donald L. Aiello

Donald L. Aiello, age 80, of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Bridgeport Hospital. Always surrounded by his loving family, he had been battling kidney disease and an auto immune disease for a number of years. He was the beloved husband of Mary Jane (Lamourreux) Aiello. Born in Bridgeport on April 16, 1941, he was a son of the late Alexander C. and Jeanette E. (Antonucci) Aiello.

A proud U.S. Naval veteran, Mr. Aiello served honorably during the Cuban Missile Crisis aboard the USS Ault (DD 698). He subsequently entered the field of business as a sales representative, later becoming partner in family owned Trumbull Park Business Center for 31 years before his retirement.

Don was an automobile enthusiast and appreciated the classic "old school" cars of the past. Above all else however, he was an avid boater and fisherman and enjoyed spending his free time on his beloved 40 foot power boat Sanddollar, on the waters of Long Island Sound with friends and family.

A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend of many, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Don will be remembered for his ability to share himself, his knowledge and friendship with anyone needing it. He volunteered his personal time to Trumbull's WPCA and as a town constable.

In addition to his beloved wife, Jane, of 57 years, other survivors include his loving children, Lori Aiello-Hagans of Stratford and Christopher D. Aiello of Gales Ferry, his cherished grandchildren, Liam C. Aiello and Danielle Stempert, his brother, Alexander D. Aiello and his wife Phyllis of Stratford, two special nieces, Jean Tomasco and her husband Allan of Southington and Kimberly Coughlan and her husband J of South Glastonbury, as well as two godchildren, several great nieces and a great nephew. He was predeceased by his grandson, Jonathan Hagans.

Friends may greet the family on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Interment with full military honors will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Kidney Fund, www.Kidneyfund.org in memory of Donald L. Aiello.
