Obituary of Carol A. LaPrise

Carol Mullane LaPrise, age 88, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Frederick (Fred) LaPrise, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021. She was born in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late Bridgeport Police Department Sergeant Thomas Mullane and Florence (Knablin) Mullane. After graduating from Central High School in Bridgeport, she worked for Bridgeport Brass Company in the accounting office. Carol lived (and raised her family) in the same house for 65 years.

Carol married her next-door neighbor Fred LaPrise who she was married to for 37 years. Together they opened LaPrise Quality Floor Covering in 1972. She then worked for the City of Bridgeport in the Nutrition Center for over 20 years.

Carol looked forward to yearly family vacations at the beach in Misquamicut, Rhode Island for over 50 years. The family and many friends came to visit. They always made sure to have her favorite meal, a hot dog roast. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a card and dice game. Carol also loved to play cards and Rummikub with the ladies in the Ivy League at Our Lady of Peace Church in Lordship, CT for many years.

In addition to her husband Fred, she was predeceased by her daughter, Linda Mavrides.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Ledford (James), her son, Michael LaPrise (Alice) and son-in-law, Michael Mavrides. She was a loving "Meme" to her grandchildren, Jordan, Kyle, Zachary and Cassie Ruth and is survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. directly in Our Lady of Peace Church, 651 Stratford Road, Stratford. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Easton. Family and friends may visit on Sunday from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT 06611.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Our Lady of Peace Capital Improvement Fund, 655 Stratford Rd., Stratford, CT 06614. Carol wanted the church to have the parking lot paved for Father Pavia.
