Obituary of John T. Petrillo

John T. Petrillo, age 88, transitioned peacefully at home with his family by his side, on September 2, 2021. Husband of 61 years, to Janet (Mitchell) Petrillo and father to John (Jeanne) Petrillo, and Donna (Russell) Tice. Grandfather to Nicholas, Ryan, Tyler and Michaila, and great-grandfather to Colton. Also survived by nieces and nephews. John was born in Shelton, CT to the late Nicola and Victoria (DeVito) Petrillo, and was a brother to the late Andrew Petrillo, and the late Christine Esposito. He attended local schools and was a Veteran of the US Army during the Korean War. John received the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Medal, and the Connecticut Veteran's Wartime Service Medal. John retired from Connecticut National Bank as an Assistant Vice President and was an honorary Lifetime Member of the Knights of Columbus Bernardo Council #1350, and a member of the American Legion Post 16, Shelton. Friends are invited to meet directly in the downstairs hall of St. Joseph Church, 50 Fairmont Pl., Shelton, on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. A walk-through visitation will take place on Tuesday, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT 06611. The family requests visitors wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay their respects, and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through the building.
