Obituary of Emily Kovacs

Former SNET Employee Emily Cavallaro Kovacs, of Bridgeport, born August 3, 1920, died peacefully early Saturday morning, March 31, 2007, at the Carolton Chronic Care Hospital, Fairfield. Born in Bridgeport, Emily was a lifelong area resident. She was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Domenica DiLeo Cavallaro and was predeceased by her brother Sam Cavallaro and sister Carmela Cavallaro Piazza Breither. Emily graduated from Bassick High School in 1938, worked for Bryant Electric during WWII, then for D.M. Reads and for many years at SNET where she eventually retired. Before her illness, Emily lived at the Success Village Apartments from 1964 through 2005. Left to cherish her memory are her very dear nephews Frank Piazza and friend Wilma DAmore of Bridgeport and Phillip Cavallaro and his wife Ethel of Huntington, her dear niece Debbie Riggott, and her husband Dave of Stratford, and sister-in-law Celia Cavallaro of Huntington. Auntie Mimi will be greatly missed by her great nephews and nieces, Frank Piazza and his wife Nancy of Trumbull, along with their children Cheryl, Lisa and Frankie, Raymond Piazza of Bridgeport, Jack Piazza and his wife Theresa of Stratford, along with their children Alishia and Jackie, Lynn Ries and her husband Douglas of Weston, Mark Piazza and his wife Toni of Stratford, Phillip, Christina and Melissa Cavallaro of Huntington, Lisa Spataro of Beacon Falls and Jennifer and Lauren Riggott, of Stratford. Emily will always be remembered for her sweet and considerate nature, for always sending a card on your birthday, for her baked goodies and family favorite cheesecake, and gifts so beautifully wrapped at Christmas that even as a kid, thought were too pretty to open. Emily had a sweet reference to everyone as dear or doll and never had an unkind word to say. She was a dignified and independent woman and a constant pillar of tradition to her family who will greatly miss her. Funeral Information Services for Emily will be privately held for family and close friends. Arrangements in care of the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
