Obituary of June P. Verrastro

June P. Burr Verrastro, age 77, of Monroe, beloved wife of Victor Verrastro, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021 with her loving family by her side. Born in London, England on June 2, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Florence Batley Burr.

June came over to the United States from England when she was 21 and shortly thereafter, became a US citizen. June enjoyed crafting and was once the owner of a craft store in Monroe where local artists displayed their creations. She had a passion for decorating and was continually changing her décor after being inspired by watching HGTV. In recent years, she also enjoyed discussing politics. She thoroughly enjoyed her time spent in Vero Beach, Florida where she lived with her husband during the winter months. But her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially her adored grandson LJ, whom she lovingly called her baby boy. He was her pride and joy and they were very close. Her husband, daughter and grandson took many trips together, shared many laughs, and created many memories which will forever live in their hearts. June will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her beloved husband of 48 years, Victor, survivors include her loving daughter Marlo Verrastro-Ruggiero (John) of Seymour, her cherished and adored grandson, John Ruggiero (LJ), a sister and many nieces and nephews whom all reside in England. She was predeceased by 5 siblings.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 11:30 a.m. in Good Shepherd Church/St. Nicholas Parish, 135 Mountain Rd., Seymour, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may greet the family Saturday morning from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
