Obituary of Mary Josephine Rotunno

Mary Josephine Piccirillo Rotunno, age 90, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at Griffin Hospital on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Bridgeport on April 14, 1931 to the late Michael and Anna Pinto Piccirillo. She was the widow of Nicholas P. Rotunno, Sr.

She grew up in Bridgeport, attended school there and worked in a pizzeria. She lived her adult life in Stratford where she and Nick raised their four boys. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was fondly called Jo, Mary Jo, Grandma Jo and Mama Jo. She loved to spend her time with friends and family, cooking Italian meals and having coffee daily with her "Breakfast Club". Her Italian cooking will be greatly missed. She enjoyed playing cards with the" Ladies", going to the casino and watching her favorite TV shows. She will be remembered for her generous heart and her witty sense of humor.

She was pre-deceased by her beloved son, Nicholas (Nicky) Rotunno, brothers, Anthony, Frank, Andrew, John and Vincent, her sister Carmela Mudre and companion Frank Pettinelli.

She is survived by her sons and their wives, Kenneth and Georgiann Rotunno, Michael and Sharon Rotunno and James and Eileen Rotunno, grandchildren, Kim Rotunno, Kenneth Rotunno Jr., Nicole (Gene) Ballone, Jamie (Martin) Stahl, Jessica Rotunno (Delmore McLeod Sr.), Nick Bruner, Mary Bruner and Matt Bruner, great grandchildren, Nicholas (Nikko) Quinones, Joseph (Joey) Rivera, Marissa Rivera, Nicolina Ballone and Delmore McLeod Jr. She is also survived by a sister, Anna Marie Gerowe, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many loving friends.

Relatives and friends can greet the family on Friday, August 13, 2021 from 4-7 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A prayer service will take place on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
