Obituary of Richard J. Laychak

Richard J. Laychak, age 73, of Bridgeport passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Rita (Occhipinda) Laychak. Born in Norwalk on October 15, 1947 he was a son of the late Francis and Stella (Mish) Laychak.  Mr. Laychak had a passion for cars and he enjoyed working on them. He had worked as a mechanic and later worked many years for Howell Fuel. His greatest enjoyment however was found in the time he spent with his granddaughters, whom he absolutely adored. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his beloved wife Rita of 54 years, other survivors include his loving daughters, Dawn Ahern and her husband Richard of Trumbull and Danielle Moore and her husband Vincent of Bridgeport., his cherished grandchildren, Alyssa and Taylor Ahern and Madison Moore, his sister, Carolyn Zullo and her husband Larry of Georgia and his brother, Douglas Laychak and his wife Jill of Stamford, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Roger and Gerald Laychak.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Face masks and social distancing is recommended. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House in loving memory of his great nephew JJ Agnello.
