Obituary of Pietro (Peter) Secondo Silano

Pietro (Peter) Secondo Silano, age 90, of Shelton, beloved husband of Gelsomina Testa Silano, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 2, 2021 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his devoted family. Born in Flumeri, Province of Avellino, Italy, on October 7, 1930, he was a son of the late Ralph and Maria Befera Silano.

Peter was a retired machine operator for Bridgeport Machines and was formerly employed by the City of Bridgeport Public Library. Peter was well known for spending his time soaking up the sun and gardening. You could also find him preparing homemade recipes with his wife at his son's restaurant, Ralph 'n' Rich's. Most importantly, his family was his pride and joy and he loved spending his Sunday afternoons with them laughing over a bowl of pasta and a glass of vino.

In addition to his beloved wife of 68 years, Gelsomina, survivors include his three loving children, a son, Ralph Silano and his wife Sarah, two daughters, Marie Silano-Szivos and her husband Frank and Lisa Besescheck and her husband Darrin, five cherished grandchildren, Erika Berggren, Jacqueline Silano, DJ Besescheck, Michael Silano and Alexa Besescheck, a sister, Rose Feola and her husband Rocco, as well as several nieces and nephews, He was predeceased by sisters, Angela Marie Tarantino, Carmela Giacobbe, Josephine Giacobbe and Angela Ranucci.

A walk-through visitation will take place on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT 06611. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. in St. Margaret's Shrine 2523 Park Ave., Bridgeport. Entombment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. At the request of the family, all visitors are asked to wear masks as they walk through, pay their respects, and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through the building.
