Obituary of Lorraine M. Sorensen

Lorraine M. Bosco Sorensen of Shelton, age 83, beloved wife of the late Harold R. Sorensen, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021. Born in Danbury on July 6, 1937, she was daughter of the late Louis Bosco and Rose Mary DePalma Bosco. Lorraine graduated from Danbury High School in 1955 and graduated St. Vincent's School of Nursing with a degree in nursing. She met her spouse of 61 years, known as Hal, on a blind date in High School, and married in 1958. Shortly thereafter she and Hal moved to Boston where she worked as a surgical nurse in the emergency room at Massachusetts General Hospital. After Boston, Harold and Lorraine lived in Connecticut, New York, California, Belgium and Norway for Hal's work. They finally settled in Weston, Connecticut in 1976 to be close to family, and where they raised their children, before moving to Shelton, CT in 2003 where she lived until she died. Among Lorraine's fondest memories are a trip she took to the Far East that included Thailand, India and China, as well as going to the Kentucky Derby with her daughter (the year the filly won), and the many trips on her and Hal's boat on Long Island Sound. An avid reader, Lorraine belonged to many book clubs where she met many wonderful friends. She had a playful sense of humor and quick wit that left a trail of laughter in her wake. One of her greatest joys was her peony garden, and she couldn't wait for their blooms so she could have a big beautiful bouquet and share the flowers with neighbors. Lorraine was so beloved by her neighbors in Shelton, that often she would find her lawn mowed or snow shoveled, and did not know initially who did the deed. Above all else Lorraine's greatest joy came from spending time with family, especially her four grandchildren. Survivors include three loving children, Chris Sorensen and his wife Tina Cornell, Amy Sorensen and her husband Charles Wisniewski, Peter Sorensen and his wife Cristy and a sister, Joan Cahill as well as her four cherished grandchildren, Summer and Reese Sorensen and Denis and Liliane Sierra. All funeral services and burial will be private. The family will receive friends at her daughter Amy's home on Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CT-ASRC – Autism Services & Resources of Connecticut, 101 N.
